BoE seeks comments on expanding collateral for discount window

The Bank of England is asking for comments on proposals to make a greater range of collateral eligible for its discount-window facility as well as plans to increase transparency in asset-backed securities transactions. "AFME supports the principle of improving transparency for asset-backed securities and covered bonds, and we welcome the bank's initiative," said Rick Watson of AFME. "The securitisation market is a direct source of credit for households and corporates and supports the overall UK economy, so moves to make it even more efficient should be welcomed by issuers and investors alike."
