North Las Vegas needs outlet for treated wastewater

A $240 million wastewater treatment facility may be in the works, but North Las Vegas, Nev., has nowhere to release the treated effluent. A plan to build a pipeline to pump the water into Lake Mead has run into environmental obstacles, and a plan to release the treated water into the county-owned Sloan Channel may run into political opposition.
