Sprint trots out Evo, first handset geared for 4G

Sprint Nextel on Tuesday offered the first look at a 4G phone, the HTC-made Evo, displaying a device designed to support superhigh-speed connections while still servicing slower technologies. Sprint hopes the Evo will help the carrier woo back many of the customers it lost over the last three years as it remains the only telecom with a 4G-based network. Sprint outlined its WiMAX service plans for this year, saying 120 million people will be able to access the network.
