Study: Intensive program can help reduce MRSA cases

An intensive program that focused on hand hygiene and active surveillance of high-risk methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus patients, among other measures, resulted in nearly a 35% reduction in MRSA cases between 1993 and 2007, with the rate declining more significantly in intensive care units, a French study showed.
