Diet based on raw plants keeps cooking to a minimum

Following a diet based on raw plants is similar to a vegan diet but allows for only limited heating of foods, and supporters say it improves health and aids in weight loss. People who follow the diet need to be sure they get enough protein and nutrients -- such as vitamin B-12, calcium and iron -- that are usually provided by meat, registered dietitian Teresa Beach says.
