Feds, La. officials clash on the care of a flood pump station

The Army Corps of Engineers wants Louisiana to be responsible for maintaining a new flood pump station in New Orleans. The agency claimed that the state agreed that local or state officials would manage all projects built by the agency to protect coastal areas from flooding and storm surges. The state's West Bank levee authority refused to take the responsibility, saying the Army Corps is required to supervise all floodgates to navigable waterways by federal regulations.
