There is reason to think that some of the conservative justices on the Supreme Court -- perhaps Anthony Kennedy or Chief Justice John Roberts -- may join the liberal judges and uphold the health care law, some observers say. Two conservative judges serving on lower courts have already backed the validity of the law, legal experts note. "I think that at least some of the conservative justices welcome opportunities to appear to be above partisanship," says Ohio State University political science professor Lawrence Baum.
