N.Y. gum company keeps the military chewing

Akron-based Ford Gum & Machine has a $600,000 contract with the Defense Department to provide soldiers chewing gum in their meal packages. Gum keeps the mouth moist, helps keep teeth clean and has a calming effect on nerves.
