AIP funds may help with air traffic-related equipment

The FAA is clarifying eligibility rules for Airport Improvement Program funds, which have traditionally been used only to fund airport infrastructure projects, and may allow them to be used for air traffic-related equipment, an agency official said. The fiscal 2005 FAA budget lists medium-intensity airport weather systems and communications facilities enhancement as some of the Facilities & Equipment projects that might be eligible for AIP funding.
