L.A. schools push for full-day kindergarten as early as this summer

Yesterday, the Los Angeles Unified School District Board of Education voted to pursue a state waiver that would allow the district to switch from half-day to full-day kindergarten over a four-year period. Superintendent Roy Romer promised to resolve implementation issues with the teachers union, which had complained that the phase-in was unfair and too rushed.
