In praise of omega-3s

Omega-3 fatty acids are not a cure-all for all diseases and ailments, but their positive benefits in fighting heart disease, diabetes, cancer progression and in reducing insulin resistance and enhancing bone density are well-reported. The National Academy of Sciences established a recommended daily intake of omega-3s of 1.1 grams and 1.6 grams for women and men, respectively, though it cautions the positive effects are reduced if people neglect to consume sufficient quantities of other essential fatty acids.
