Atlanta moving ahead with public transportation expansion project

The city of Atlanta is embarking on an estimated $2 billion project to add 60 miles of new rail line and highway lanes to its public transportation system. Two major components of the expansion include a 40-mile-plus rail loop through the city's interior and an 18-mile spur along Interstate 20 to the east of town.
