Microsoft re-orgs; names Mehdi chief advertising strategist

Yusuf Mehdi, the Microsoft executive who led the company's charge into the search engine advertising market, was promoted as part of a company-wide reorganization, and will serve as chief advertising strategist. The move comes as Google threatens to offer free, ad-supported versions of the type of word-processing and office computing software that has long been one of Microsoft's core products.
