Opinion: Missile defense program is "wasteful"

The Pentagon's missile defense program will not necessarily make the U.S. more secure, write Frida Berrigan and William D. Hartung in a commentary in the Buffalo News. They call the program "wasteful and unnecessary" and note that the system's ground-based element has failed recent tests. Hartung wrote Tangled Web 2005: A Profile of the Missile Defense and Space Weapons Lobbies and is a senior research fellow at the New School. Berrigan is a senior research associate at the New School.
