Hemochromatosis treatable, but often diagnosed late

Hemochromatosis is a rare condition that causes the body to store up to 30% of the iron a person ingests, compared to the normal 10%. Most people don't realize they have hemochromatosis, which can be deadly, until other health problems arise, including liver cirrhosis, heart ailments or diabetes.
