Construction costs have declined in 47 of the largest U.S. cities, according to RSMeans' Construction Cost Index. Declines ranged from .02% in Miami to 4.9% in Nashville. Meanwhile, construction costs fell 2.4% on a national basis from October 2008 to January 2009, according to the index. Observers note that the cost of construction materials has contributed to the lower overall cost of construction.
