Republic ups stake, takes over management of Mokulele

Republic Airways will take a 50% stake in Mokulele Airlines in an effort to prevent the collapse of the Hawaiian inter-island carrier. Scott Durgin, a top Republic executive, will take over as interim president and CEO of Mokulele, while current CEO Bill Boyer will focus on sales and marketing. Earlier this month, Mokulele defaulted on a previous $8 million loan from Republic.
