Study: Gold nanospheres target melanoma in mice

A treatment that uses peptide-laced gold nanospheres was effective in targeting and killing melanoma cells without harming healthy tissues in mice, U.S. researchers found. The photoablation therapy works by stimulating nanoparticles to "boil" cancer cells by exposing tumors to near infrared light.
