Low weight gain seen in preemies with placental inflammation

U.S. researchers said preterm infants with placental inflammation, especially on the fetal rather than maternal side, had lower weight gains at 21 days. The report in Pediatrics said that by 36 weeks or hospital discharge, neonates weighed about the same with or without placental inflammation.
