API makes case against SEC payment disclosure rule

The American Petroleum Institute in a federal appeals court hearing again made its case against a Securities and Exchange Commission policy that mandates oil, natural gas and mining firms to disclose payments made to foreign governments. "U.S. companies are already leading the way to increase transparency of their operations, and they can do it without compromising competitive information," said Marty Durbin, API executive vice president of government affairs.
