Nasdaq ETFs get SEC OK to pay market makers

The Securities and Exchange Commission has approved a plan to allow some exchange-traded funds to pay market makers on the Nasdaq Stock Market. The plan, which is limited to ETFs that average less than 1 million shares traded per day, still needs approval from the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority. NYSE Arca has submitted a similar plan to the SEC for approval.
