EU prepares to overhaul novel foods regulations

Proposed changes to the EU's novel foods approval process include a centralized, streamlined approval procedure and an easier approval path for traditional foods from foreign countries. The proposed changes, which aren't expected to become effective until 2016, are aimed at reducing the burden of regulations faced by novel foods applicants.
