Citigroup faces challenges as it tries to sell assets:

Citigroup is finding it difficult to shed assets that are not core to its business and dragging down the financial institution's plan to revamp itself. Critics are starting to urge Citi to price assets for the distress market, a controversial step that not everyone thinks would help. "There's a balance between downsizing these nonstrategic assets quickly so they can focus on core assets and not doing so in a fire sale," said Michael Mayo, a Credit Agricole Securities analyst.
