Educators: Early intervention is essential for students

Testing children for disabilities early can prepare them for their future, say two special educators. Kathy Massey and Sarah Whitlock spoke to day-care providers, teachers and parents as part of a forum on children's development and readiness for kindergarten. The key, the women said, is to see if the child shows proper social skills and physical development. "Early intervention addresses those delays," Massey said.
