Emerging from the downturn with mountains of cash

Some small businesses, families and local governments are struggling to avoid financial collapse, but it's a different story for the largest U.S. companies. Thanks in part to the deep cost cutting that pushed unemployment into double digits, the nation's biggest businesses ended the economic downturn with huge amounts of cash. Some economists say that fact is good news for hopes of a recovery. Other experts said there is a darker side to the picture.
