Investors seem more confident of green chemicals than biofuels

Investors appear to be drawn more toward bio-based chemical companies rather than to advanced-biofuel producers, according to this blog post. Biotech faces similar obstacles to growth as do advanced biofuels, but chemical makers can ordinarily charge more for their products, said Christophe Schilling, the chief operating officer of Genomatica. "Fuels represent a significantly larger market in terms of volume, but it does have the challenge of delivering at costs at points competitive with fossil fuels," Schilling added.
