Md. students with disabilities to compete in school sports

The Maryland Public Secondary Schools Athletic Association approved changes that will allow student athletes with disabilities to compete alongside other students in school sports so long as they do not change the nature of the game. The change also requires that the athletes meet preexisting eligibility rules, and they cannot present a risk to themselves or others. Guidelines for developing sports programs that meet the needs of students with disabilities were also approved.
