University of Nevada says new building fails to meet code

A student recreation building at the University of Nevada in Las Vegas could be the subject of a court fight. The building isn't seismically sound, says the university, and the new structure is already suffering roof leaks and flooring problems. "Because of the choice of a flexible structural system for resisting lateral forces, the displacements are relatively large," according to a structural engineer.
