AMA: Office-based doctors create big economic effect

A study by the American Medical Association found office-based physicians generated $1.4 trillion in economic activity and supported 4 million jobs across the country, outstripping the economic effect of hospitals and other health facilities. "This study illustrates that office-based physicians contribute to both the health of their patients and also to the economic health of their communities," said AMA President Dr. Cecil Wilson.
