Don't delegate without getting input first

Delegating can help improve a manager's workload, but don't start passing out assignments until you've talked to team members about how they believe you could be more efficient and focused, Marshall Goldsmith advises. Don't promise to follow everything they suggest, Goldsmith says, but just "promise to listen to their ideas, think about all of their suggestions, get back to them -- and do what you can.”
