Boston program offers "practice-based" teacher training

About 40 teachers-in-training are learning skills and techniques to communicate effectively with students and handle other classroom challenges through the Match Teacher Residency, a teacher-education program run by the Boston-based nonprofit charter-management organization Match Education. "We are training people for a job that has a very particular skills set that happens to be nuanced and difficult to master," said Orin Gutlerner, director of the Match residency.
