Cosmetic surgeries jump 12% in 2013, data show

There were more than 11 million cosmetic surgical procedures done in the U.S. in 2013, representing a 12% annual increase and an 18% hike over 2009, according to data from the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. While patients choosing noninvasive procedures opted most often for Botox injections -- 3.76 million were recorded last year -- one of the biggest increases in the number of procedures among noninvasive options went to hyaluronic acid, which was up 31.5% from the previous year.
