A resolution drafted by Illinois high-school seniors to advocate for endangered animals has been approved by the state Senate, which designated March 20 as Endangered Species Day. The resolution grew from the school's efforts to raise awareness about endangered species, said Pontiac Township High School civics teacher Kim Burke. Students of Burke and co-teacher Allie Borowiak's civics class recently traveled to the Capitol to observe the Senate pass the resolution. "It was a great experience," Burke said.
