Observational classroom allows Calif. teachers to demonstrate early-literacy instruction

Central Unified School District in Fresno, Calif., has created a preschool classroom with a one-way mirror to allow parents and educators to observe teaching techniques without disturbing the classroom. Officials said observing how teachers engage students in the classroom can help parents build language and literacy skills at home. "In early childhood ed today, it's all about literacy, it's all about speaking, and reading, and writing even in preschool," Superintendent Mike Berg said.
