Tattoo-covered moles can be harder to monitor for melanoma

Tattooed skin can be an obstacle to monitoring the development of possible melanomas when moles are covered. "The ink will camouflage the mole, and sometimes interferes with some of the tools that we use for detection," said dermatologist and ASDS member Hooman Khorasani of the skin cancer institute at New York's Mount Sinai Hospital.
