Commentary: European banks find latest Basel battle tougher

Columnist Paul Betts explains how the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision's Basel III proposals, which are stricter, are being met with fierce opposition from European banks. Betts argues that although some of the proposals might be a bit draconian, the banking industry is not in the negotiating position it enjoyed in the past because of the financial crisis.
