Congress passes final amendments to health care overhaul

Congress approved a package of amendments to legislation overhauling the U.S. health care system. The Senate voted 56-43 for the measure and sent it to the House, which passed it 220-207. The reconciliation package includes more generous subsidies to help low-income people buy health insurance and additional funding for state Medicaid programs.
