Senate approves FAA extension, House passes modified bill

The Senate on Thursday night followed the House's lead in approving a three-month extension for the FAA, giving the two chambers more time to hammer out an agreement on sharply different reauthorization bills. The temporary measure provides $7 billion for operations and $3 billion for the Airport Improvement Program. Also last evening, the House passed a modified version of the FAA reauthorization bill, setting the stage for lawmakers to resolve the differences between their respective proposals.
