Sen. John D. Rockefeller, D-W.Va., chairman of the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation, has forwarded a letter to Blue Cross Blue Shield of Delaware requesting data on cardiac imaging denials for the past five years. The move follows reports that BCBSD has been refusing to cover cardiac imaging tests, including nuclear stress tests, for patients with the common symptoms of heart disease. BCBSD said it would act on the request. The company has to submit the requested materials to the committee by April 16.
