Fabric covers can protect blooming plants from frost

Plants that produced flowers earlier than usual should be covered with cloth or landscape fabric to protect them from freezing temperatures, according to George Wedel of Wedel's Nursery Florist and Garden Center in Kalamazoo, Mich. Vegetables can be protected with row cover fabric, while individual plants can be sheltered from the cold with inverted fabric pots or rose cones, Wedel said.
