Passengers should know that pilots -- not autopilot -- fly the plane, pilots say

Many passengers on commercial aircraft mistakenly believe pilots are in the cockpit only in case of backup if autopilot fails. However, pilots say they still fly the plane. "None of it is easy," said veteran pilot Patrick Smith. "In a lot of ways, it's more difficult because airplanes are so much more complex now."
