Company recalls glucose meters over display malfunction

Johnson & Johnson subsidiary LifeScan voluntarily recalled its OneTouch Verio IQ meters and asked physicians to stop distributing them because of a malfunction that could be a patient safety risk. The company said the meter turns off when registering extremely high blood glucose levels of 1024 mg/dL or greater, rather than displaying a patient warning message.
