Google's clean-energy investments are paying off

Google has spent at least $1 billion on clean energy projects with a combined capacity of about 2 gigawatts -- and the investment is paying off, says sustainability chief Rick Needham. Reduced energy costs and increased energy efficiency have saved the tech giant the same $1 billion it's invested, and that trend is set to continue. "While fossil-based prices are on a cost curve that goes up, renewable prices are on this march downward," Needham says.
