Maine tanning bill gets preliminary approval

The Maine House of Representatives voted 82-63 on Tuesday in favor of a bill that would ban anyone younger than 18 from using tanning booths. Supporters said that the prohibition is necessary to reduce the risk of skin cancer, but opponents argued that the legislation overrides parental discretion.
