Easter baskets can be packed with healthier treats by making some simple switches, such as using Rice Krispies Treats instead of Marshmallow Peeps, which are high in sugar and carbohydrates, registered dietitian Keri Glassman writes. Dark chocolate has less sugar and fat than lighter varieties, and real eggs are a healthier idea than cream eggs, Glassman writes. Nonfood items such as small toys or crafts also can create a fun Easter basket.
