Tenn. district sets higher bar for valedictorian, salutatorian

A Tennessee school district has raised its standards for valedictorian and salutatorian honors this year, no longer considering only grade point averages. Now, students are required to graduate with honors and distinction -- a state standard meaning that students have met certain standards on ACT exams and other criteria. Officials say the changes have been in the works for years, but will go into effect with this year's graduating class.
