Cognitive activities may help pain, anxiety, researchers say

Neuroscientists and other researchers are studying whether crafts, crossword puzzles and other cognitive activities may help people with chronic pain, stress or depression and possibly ward off mental decline. Clinical neuropsychologist Catherine Carey Levisay, whose husband runs, said evidence suggests that the act of creation, through art, music, cooking and other activities, may have important health benefits.
