Studies suggest flu shots may reduce cardiovascular risk

A meta-analysis found that flu shots were associated with a 36% reduction in the risk of cardiovascular events among adults and provide even greater protection for those at high risk of cardiovascular disease. Dr. Charles Vega of the University of California at Irvine wrote that applying the lessons of the meta-analysis could involve promoting influenza vaccination "both by counseling individual patients and conducting larger campaigns."
