Wash. schools, employers team up for workforce education

Employers and schools in the Vancouver, Wash., area are developing ways to prepare students for the kinds of work opportunities they'll find after high school. Some stakeholders recently gathered to discuss such programs during a meeting of the Columbia River Economic Development Council. Silicon wafer manufacturer SEH America is one regional employer offering students work-based internships. SEH also helped Evergreen Public Schools develop a materials science course that covers the skills and information students will need in high-tech manufacturing jobs.
