White House to propose new overtime-pay rules

The Bush administration today will unveil a proposal that would add an estimated 1.3 million low-wage workers to those eligible for extra pay if they work more than 40 hours a week. While workers earning up to $22,100 annually automatically qualify, about 640,000 white-collar workers could lose overtime-pay privileges.
